Overview

The purpose of this course is to educate healthcare professionals about open adoption and support an enhanced understanding of open adoption as it relates to current practice.  In this course you will be provided with general information about types of adoptions, the adoption triad, and the relationship continuum.  You will learn about the practice of Open Adoption and the influences that have impacted the evolution of open adoption practice.  Ethical issues in Open Adoption will also be covered.

At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:

1. Describe the differences between various types of adoptions;
2. Identify the characteristics of Open Adoptions;
3. Name at least one myth related to Open Adoption;
4. List the types of communication that can occur in Open Adoption Agreements.
